印度占星八分法：八參考與 BAV、SAV 的關係
理解 Ashtakavarga 的八參考結構、星座起算方式與符號慣例，辨別原始點數和削減後的不同資料。

Ashtakavarga 八分法以太陽、月亮、火星、水星、木星、金星、土星及上升點為八個參考。BAV 記錄某行星的各星座貢獻數，SAV 再合計七個行星 BAV。

「八」和七個合計行有何不同？
八指的是每個目標行星表內的貢獻來源，包含上升點。此處 SAV 是七個行星目標行的合計，不能為了符合「八」字就額外加一個上升目標行。
bindu 與 rekha 在不同作者筆下可能意思相反。請先閱讀數值圖例；本頁把有利貢獻計為 1，不能只看點或線的圖形推定兩本書的數值相同。
從水瓶水星數到白羊
以太陽的表為例，設水星在水瓶座。Rao 表 19 把從水星起算第三個星座列為有利貢獻位置。水瓶第一、雙魚第二、白羊第三，故該項貢獻加在白羊。
這不是從水星精確度數往前量三段 30°。它是以所在星座為第一個的計數，只得到太陽表的一個分項，尚未完成整格 BAV 或 SAV。
可以直接比較原始與削減數值嗎？
不可以。原始 BAV、SAV 與後續削減、加權 pinda 有不同定義，若沒有中間操作紀錄，兩個數不能放在同一尺度上理解。
Rao 第 12.8 節列出若干貢獻位置變體。相同總數可能來自不同分布，必須檢查表的來源和格子；點數本身也不會保證好事發生。
