Overview

BaZi, also called the Four Pillars of Destiny, is a traditional Chinese system that represents the birth year, month, day, and hour as four stem-branch pairs. The four Heavenly Stems and four Earthly Branches form the “eight characters.” This Wiki owns the entity overview and learning path; chart calculation and AI interpretation belong to their dedicated tools.

BaZi and the Four Pillars in one chart

The Year, Month, Day, and Hour Pillars each contain one Heavenly Stem above one Earthly Branch. The Day Stem, often called the Day Master, supplies the reference point for the Ten Gods, while the Month Branch supplies important seasonal context. Neither one represents a whole person by itself.

Calendar choice, historical time zone, daylight-saving rules, solar-term boundaries, day rollover, hour boundaries, and any true-solar-time policy can change a chart. If the birth time is unknown, a responsible calculator shows the confirmed pillars and the unresolved Hour Pillar instead of inventing it.

A reproducible traditional chart does not establish scientific validity or prove personality, health, marriage, wealth, or future events. AI explanations must retain the input record, rule version, chart evidence, uncertainty, and counterevidence.
