Liu Yao Question Types and Yongshen
Liu Yao question types organize one role and decision. OpenFate supports six bounded categories without claiming to cover every life event.
Overview
OpenFate’s current Liu Yao contract groups questions into self and action, official duty, wealth and exchange, counterpart and relationship, recovery, and document or result. Each category narrows a focus role and safety boundary; it is an interface taxonomy, not a promise that the chart can determine the external outcome.

Direct answer
OpenFate’s current Liu Yao contract groups questions into self and action, official duty, wealth and exchange, counterpart and relationship, recovery, and document or result. Each category narrows a focus role and safety boundary; it is an interface taxonomy, not a promise that the chart can determine the external outcome.
Definitions and prerequisites
State the decision owner, concrete object, time window and evidence needed outside the chart. Split questions that contain two actors, two outcomes or both diagnosis and action before choosing Yongshen.
Method or reference rule
Select the closest supported category, record its focus rule, identify eligible lines and perform the normal strength and conflict audit. End with a controllable next step and a fact that would revise the reading.
Worked example
For a contract approval, the document/result category can focus the relevant Parents line while the real verification remains the signed document or official notice. The chart organizes attention; it does not replace the record.
Closest failure case
Treating recovery as a diagnosis, wealth/exchange as a trade signal, or counterpart as secret-mind reading exceeds the category. Creating a new category only to force a preferred focus also breaks comparability.
Sources, interpretation and limits
Application pages must never give medical diagnosis, medication advice, legal conclusions, gambling strategies or specific investment instructions. Use qualified evidence and direct consent for the real decision.
The historical manual documents named focus roles and cases; OpenFate documents its six current question contracts. Neither establishes a future outcome.
Verification checklist
Save the question, cast time, timezone, face convention, six line values, source edition and product version whenever they can change the result.
- Reproduce the six stored line values before interpretation.
- Name the method, edition and product settings used.
- Cite the decisive chart facts instead of one dramatic label.
- Use observable records and qualified advice for high-stakes decisions.
