Imum Coeli Astrology: the IC is the lower meridian angle exactly 180° opposite the Midheaven, calculated from the same birth time, place, historical time zone, zodiac, and geometry. Its formula is IC = (MC + 180°) mod 360°. In some quadrant systems it coincides with the fourth-house cusp, but it remains a distinct angle in whole-sign and other frameworks. Read its exact degree, sign, ruler, close aspects, MC axis, and documented private-foundation context. It cannot reveal a parent, ancestry, childhood, property, trauma, nationality, family fate, or end-of-life circumstances.

What does Imum Coeli mean in astrology?

Imum Coeli is a time-and-place-dependent horizon or meridian angle, not a planet. Confirm the geometry before traditional symbolism about the lower meridian point exactly opposite the Midheaven. It is defined exactly 180° from its paired point.

Calculated points have no planetary domicile, exaltation, sect, joy, station, or retrograde cycle. Read the formula, longitude, sign, house, axis partner, close aspects, house system, and birth-time reliability; never infer a partner, vocation, fated meeting, or guaranteed event from one point.

How to calculate the IC from the Midheaven

Illustrative case, not proof: A data import showed the Midheaven at 22°41′ Taurus and the Imum Coeli at 21°59′ Scorpio. The forty-two-minute discrepancy signaled rounded coordinates from a different source. The reviewer discarded the mixed value, recomputed both angles from the same birth receipt, and recovered an exact opposition at 22°41′ Scorpio. Only after that repair did she discuss private foundations as symbolic language. She did not fill in family history, because geometry can establish the axis but cannot supply events that were never reported.

Imum Coeli versus the fourth house

Modifiers and context: Any update to time, place, timezone, zodiac, or MC propagates to the IC. Keep the paired longitudes, source receipt, and exact opposition in one calculation version.

Near-miss and alternative: A person who values privacy may seem IC-oriented, yet safety, culture, housing, or temperament can explain privacy. Behavior does not validate a meridian point.
