Definition and Scope
This hub covers the traditional comparison of controllable beginnings, not the prediction of whether a project will succeed. Evidence and Repeatable Method
The six guides move from definition to objective, then to the Ascendant, its ruler and the Moon, relevant planetary condition and applying aspects, void-Moon or prohibition tradeoffs, and final ethical limits. Skyscript’s electional guide and the NCGR curriculum describe the traditional craft and its “art of the possible” constraint. They do not prove that a chosen chart causes the later outcome, so every page keeps operational reasons and symbolic reasons separate.
Worked Example and Near Miss
A team choosing among three feasible launch windows first records the operational deadline, staff availability, legal requirements, and the event that actually starts the undertaking. Only then are the three charts compared under one declared rule hierarchy. The near miss is a visually impressive chart outside business hours, a “perfect” Moon that misses a filing deadline, or a late change of objective that makes the selected significator irrelevant.
Schools and Method Variants
Schools rank the Moon, Ascendant ruler, benefics, malefics, houses, fixed stars, void conditions, and natal contacts differently. Some accept a compromised chart when the objective’s ruler is protected; others apply broader prohibitions. The hub preserves those hierarchies as separate methods. It does not assemble only the most favorable rule from each school, and it requires the same feasible windows to be compared before differences are discussed.
Limits, Product Boundary, and Safe Use
Electional pages can organize symbolic tradeoffs but cannot make an unsafe, unlawful, unaffordable, medically inappropriate, or non-consensual action acceptable. OpenFate does not calculate an electional recommendation. Keep the real constraint list beside the chart comparison, require the affected people’s agreement, retain a workable non-astrological fallback, and record why the final start was chosen. If no candidate satisfies the minimum practical conditions, postpone or use the safest feasible time rather than manufacturing certainty.
