Supporting Stars in Zi Wei Dou Shu
Learn fourteen supporting stars through placement rules, palace evidence, combinations, worked examples, and explicit interpretation limits.
Overview
Supporting stars modify how a palace and its major stars operate; they do not replace the major-star structure. Use this cluster to verify each star’s deterministic placement and then interpret it through palace, relational, transformation, and timing evidence.

What belongs in this cluster
This cluster owns Zuo Fu, You Bi, Wen Chang, Wen Qu, Lu Cun, Tian Ma, Qing Yang, Tuo Luo, Huo Xing, Ling Xing, Tian Kui, Tian Yue, Di Kong, and Di Jie as canonical star entities.
Each star has one page under its native name and pinyin. Descriptive archetypes remain explanatory copy, never competing URLs or alternate canonical entities.
- Use the named star page for its definition.
- Use the major-star hub for the chart’s fourteen primary stars.
Verify placement before meaning
Supporting stars are placed through different deterministic inputs: birth month, birth hour, year stem, year branch, or a position linked to another star. The rule and calculation provenance must be visible.
A calculated position is a chart fact. Whether it describes support, pressure, mobility, expression, retention, or interruption is an interpretation that still needs its palace network.
- Record the placement formula and selected rulebook.
- Confirm the star’s exact palace in the generated chart.
Read modifiers in context
Begin with the focal palace and resident major stars. Then add the supporting star, San Fang Si Zheng, Four Transformations, brightness where applicable, and the relevant timing layer.
Pairs such as Fu-Bi, Chang-Qu, Kui-Yue, Yang-Tuo, Huo-Ling, and Kong-Jie can sharpen a question, but pair names do not erase the distinct placement and function of each member.
- Major structure first; modifier second.
- Keep co-presence, opposition, and timing explicit.
Variants, safety, and closed loop
Schools can differ in placement variants, brightness tables, transformation assignments, and the weight given to paired stars. Compare declared rules before comparing conclusions.
Use the chart tool to verify presence, open the exact star page for its bounded reading, and return to related palace and method pages. No star is medical, legal, financial, or fatalistic proof.
- Name the school or rule variant when it matters.
- Reject guaranteed helpers, harms, diagnoses, and life events.
