Definition and Scope

Electional astrology is scoped here as the traditional selection of a controllable beginning among feasible candidate times, not as a guarantee of success. The receipt defines the action that constitutes the start, location, time zone, date range, objective, relevant house and significators, natal-contact policy, and rule hierarchy before charts are compared. Skyscript and the NCGR curriculum document this craft and its constraints; they do not prove causation. Operational requirements and later outcome records stay separate from symbolic rationale.

Evidence and Repeatable Method

Define the act, who controls it, valid time window, location, real constraints, success criteria, selected chart rules, and unacceptable harms before comparing charts.

Worked Example and Near Miss

For a public launch, three operationally feasible times are compared after server readiness, staffing, legal approval, and rollback ownership are confirmed.

A launch has a six-hour feasible window and three candidate starts after staffing, access, and filing rules are applied. The same objective, location, house system, planetary set, and priority table are used for all three charts. The receipt shows one operational and one symbolic tradeoff for each. Selection records a preference, not a promise that later performance was caused by the time.

A chart is used to bypass feasibility, consent, law, medical guidance, or contingency planning, and the chosen moment is sold as a guarantee.

Schools and Method Variants

Traditional authors differ on natal prerequisites, outer planets, house systems, and election hierarchies; every comparison needs a declared ruleset and practical baseline.

Limits, Product Boundary, and Safe Use

Electional astrology cannot turn an unlawful, unsafe, unaffordable, medically unsuitable, or non-consensual plan into a good choice, and OpenFate does not compute a recommended election. Begin with a real operating window, the person responsible for the decision, affected people, hard deadline, minimum resources, and non-astrological fallback. Compare at least three feasible starts under the same declared rules and record both practical and symbolic reasons. If only one time is possible, acknowledge that no election occurred; use the workable time and manage risk directly.
