Electional Limitations and Ethics
Ethical electional work preserves agency, consent, practical constraints, privacy, and uncertainty; timing advice cannot remove ordinary risk.
Overview
Keep consent, competence, safety, uncertainty, and a non-astrological fallback visible around every traditional electional comparison.

Definition and Scope
This page draws the boundary between documenting a traditional timing craft and selling certainty. The audit asks who controls the start, who is affected, what evidence supports the underlying plan, whether delay causes harm, what professional advice is required, and how the symbolic rule set was disclosed. Ethics codes support autonomy, competence, confidentiality, and non-fatalistic language; electional sources document technique. Neither proves a chosen time will work. The full receipt remains available for correction and prospective review.
Evidence and Repeatable Method
Document who requested the election, who is affected, whose data is used, the practical baseline, uncertainty, excluded domains, fallback plan, and review outcome.
Worked Example and Near Miss
A wedding-date discussion includes both partners’ consent, venue constraints, accessibility, contracts, weather plan, and an explicit statement that the date cannot ensure relationship quality.
A decision receipt has separate rows for consent, legal authority, safety, affordability, professional review, postponement cost, symbolic preference, and fallback. Any failure in the first six rows stops the election regardless of the chart. The final record states uncertainty and the selected compromise, then evaluates whether the process was transparent rather than relabeling every later event as confirmation.
A surgery, lawsuit, investment, or immigration filing is delayed solely for a chart, despite qualified advice, legal deadlines, or safety needs.
Schools and Method Variants
Practitioners set different domain exclusions and consent rules; the stricter relevant professional, legal, medical, or safety requirement takes precedence.
Limits, Product Boundary, and Safe Use
Electional work does not demonstrate causal power and cannot authorize medical treatment, legal filing, financial risk, surveillance, discrimination, coercion, or action without the affected people’s consent. Preserve the client’s objective, real constraints, calculation settings, rejected candidates, conflicts of interest, uncertainty statement, and a non-astrological fallback. Explain that no chart removes ordinary risk. If the requested start is unsafe or outside competence, decline and refer. Afterward, evaluate the decision process and observable outcome without moving the success criterion.
