What Is Water of the Great Stream (大溪水) in BaZi?
Identify the 甲寅–乙卯 Great Stream Water pair, understand its return-and-nourishment source rules, and separate the image from personality, travel, and real water strength.
Overview
Water of the Great Stream is the water-class Nayin assigned to 甲寅 and 乙卯. San Ming Tong Hui pictures a powerful east-flowing stream that needs a place of return and suitable nourishment, with exact metal, water, earth, and clash conditions; it does not predict temperament, migration, flooding, or ordinary water strength.

Great Stream Water belongs to 甲寅 and 乙卯
The fixed Nayin table assigns Water of the Great Stream only to complete 甲寅 and 乙卯 pillars. A Jia or Yi stem, a Yin or Mao branch, flowing water in a location, or characters taken from separate pillars cannot produce this Nayin.
甲 and 乙 remain wood stems, while 寅 and 卯 remain wood branches with their ordinary hidden stems. The water-class Nayin is a pair-level historical label and does not convert those components into ordinary water.
- Match one complete stem-branch pair.
- Preserve the original phase and hidden-stem structure.
“Return” and “nourishment” are named conditions
San Ming Tong Hui describes waves and a far-reaching eastward stream, then says the image needs both a place of return and nourishment. It links return to specified Kan or mountain conditions and nourishment to selected clean metals, while separating the two Jiazi and their clashes.
The same passage distinguishes still, celestial, sea, and other waters; several earths are treated as obstructions, and fire and wood vary by exact pair. These details cannot be collapsed into “more metal feeds water” or “earth is always harmful.”
- State the exact supporting or clashing Jiazi.
- Keep source-specific return and nourishment rules intact.
The stream image stays outside the main chart score
OpenFate deterministically maps 甲寅 and 乙卯 to Water of the Great Stream. Compatibility analysis treats it as auxiliary, non-scoring evidence and does not let it override direct pillar relations, structure, or favorable-element findings.
Actual water strength and usefulness depend on Month Command, roots, hidden and exposed stems, support, control, combinations, clashes, dryness, moisture, and timing. A Great Stream Water label cannot establish that ordinary water is abundant, mobile, useful, or uncontrolled.
- Separate the exact lookup from the classical image.
- Judge real water conditions from the full chart.
A fast stream is not a personality or hazard forecast
Water of the Great Stream does not prove emotional intensity, restlessness, travel, migration, career movement, wealth flow, drowning risk, or flood exposure. Landscape imagery is not a psychological profile or safety model.
Travel, relocation, water safety, health, insurance, and financial decisions require current evidence and qualified advice. Never use this Nayin to frighten someone or to predict an accident or compulsory life path.
- Do not translate current speed into temperament or mobility.
- Use real environmental and personal evidence for risk decisions.
