Overview

A Twelve Life Stage is a categorical position obtained from a stem and branch table. Strength analysis evaluates Month Command, roots, exposure, support, drainage, control, combinations, transformations, and the whole chart. A prosperous-sounding stage can occur in a weak context, and a declining-sounding stage can coexist with substantial root and seasonal support.

The two methods measure different things

Life-stage lookup identifies one named position in a fixed cycle. Strength analysis asks how much effective support or pressure a stem receives in the actual chart.

Because their units differ, stage labels should not be converted into numerical strength points or added directly to element counts.

  • Keep categorical and aggregate evidence separate.
  • Do not score stages as fixed percentages.

Season and roots require direct inspection

Month Command sets the seasonal environment, while roots show whether a stem has support in the branches and hidden stems.

A Diwang or Linguan lookup does not by itself prove seasonal command, and a Shuai or Jue label does not erase a real root.

  • Check the month branch directly.
  • List actual roots and supporting pathways.

Conflicting indicators should remain visible

If the stage imagery and whole-chart strength assessment point in different directions, report the difference rather than forcing them to agree.

Confidence should follow the clearer direct evidence, with the stage retained as a secondary descriptor under the chosen method.

  • Record supporting and opposing evidence.
  • Let direct structure outrank label tone.

Neither label ranks a person

Strong, weak, prosperous, declining, sick, or dead are technical words in traditional frameworks and do not measure human value, resilience, health, or success.

Practical decisions require current facts, goals, and qualified advice rather than a stage or strength label.

  • Avoid deficit or superiority language.
  • Do not predict outcomes from terminology alone.
