What Is the Direct Officer or Executive Pattern (正官格) in BaZi?

Overview
The Direct Officer Pattern centers a Direct Officer selected from the month command and confirmed by exposure, roots, support, and clarity. Wealth may generate Officer and Resource may protect or receive it, while Hurting Officer and mixed Seven Killings can damage the path. A Direct Officer star alone does not establish the pattern or guarantee status, career, morality, or marriage.

A Direct Officer star is not yet a Direct Officer Pattern
Direct Officer is the opposite-polarity element that controls the Day Master. The pattern question is narrower: does Direct Officer organize the chart through the month command, an eligible revealed month qi, or another explicitly stated classical route? Finding one Officer in any pillar answers only the Ten God question.
A defensible formation claim identifies the month branch, selected hidden stem, whether it is exposed, where it is rooted, and whether seasonal and structural support keep the Officer usable. Storage months and changed month-command candidates require their own evidence rather than a convenient label.

Support, purity, breakage, and rescue are separate checks
San Ming Tong Hui begins with the month command and favors a clear Officer supported by a Day Master able to carry it. Wealth can generate Officer, and Resource can receive Officer qi and support the Day Master. These are possible structural paths, not automatic signs of promotion or virtue.
Hurting Officer can attack Direct Officer; Seven Killings can make the authority structure mixed; clashes, punishment, combinations, and excessive or unsupported Officer can also alter formation. A visible Resource may protect Officer from Hurting Officer, while a correctly placed Wealth star may redirect Output and generate Officer. Sequence and placement therefore matter.

How OpenFate reports the pattern without overclaiming

The current rules recognize clear Officer, Wealth-generated Officer, Officer–Resource flow, Hurting Officer damage, Resource protection, and a sequenced Wealth rescue. That implementation policy is narrower than every historical school and must not be presented as the only possible classical method.

Direct Officer Pattern does not award rank or moral worth
Direct Officer Pattern does not prove government office, executive authority, obedience, lawfulness, academic success, wealth, a stable career, a particular spouse, a good marriage, or superior character. Classical official language cannot be mapped directly onto modern employment or identity.
Hiring, promotion, legal, financial, relationship, and mental-health decisions require current evidence, consent, and qualified advice. Use the pattern to study chart structure, never to screen people, assign moral value, or promise social advancement.
