What Is the Hurting Officer or Maverick Pattern (傷官格) in BaZi?

Overview

The Hurting Officer Pattern centers Hurting Officer selected from the month command and requires a usable Output path. Wealth may receive its qi, Resource may regulate it, and an effectively combined Officer can cease to block the route; exposed Direct Officer, mixed authority stars, unsupported Output, or a path with neither Wealth nor Resource can prevent formation. It does not prove rebellion, talent, speech, crime, career, relationship conflict, illness, or status.

Hurting Officer must lead a pattern, not merely appear

Hurting Officer is the opposite-polarity element generated by the Day Master. A Hurting Officer Pattern requires that relation to arise from the effective month command or another stated formation route. A visible Hurting Officer elsewhere remains important Output but does not automatically become the primary structure.

Evidence should identify the selected month qi, exposure, roots, Day Master capacity, and where the Output can flow. A strong Output label without a receiver, regulator, or coherent sequence may remain a candidate rather than a formed pattern.

  • Show the exact Hurting Officer and month-command route.
  • Identify where its qi goes and whether that route is intact.

Wealth, Resource, and authority stars create different paths

Hurting Officer may generate Wealth, directing Output into a Wealth structure, or Resource may regulate Hurting Officer in a Hurting-Officer-with-Resource path. The two routes answer different structural problems and should not be combined simply because both labels sound favorable.

Direct Officer can conflict with Hurting Officer, and Seven Killings can obstruct a Wealth route in the current rule set. A relevant authority stem that is genuinely combined away may stop blocking; Resource may also regulate Hurting Officer and protect an Officer relation. Placement, strength, and sequence decide whether rescue is real.

  • Choose the demonstrated Wealth or Resource route.
  • Locate each authority blocker and prove any rescue.

OpenFate distinguishes an active route from unresolved Output

OpenFate records the effective month command, Hurting Officer candidate, exposure, Wealth and Resource support, authority blockers, formation path, rescue, clarity, and confidence. It can return formed, partial, broken, or ordinary rather than assuming that visible Output is usable.

The current implementation recognizes Hurting Officer generating Wealth, Hurting Officer with Resource, an authority stem combined away, and Resource regulating Hurting Officer around Direct Officer. When there is neither Wealth, Resource, nor a declared transformation, it reports unresolved Output. These are bounded V1 rules.

  • Report the selected path and unresolved blockers together.
  • State when V1 finds no completed transformation.

Hurting Officer is not rebellion, genius, or misconduct

The pattern does not prove creativity, eloquence, intelligence, criticism, disobedience, arrogance, crime, rule-breaking, leadership, entrepreneurship, artistic success, job conflict, divorce, infertility, injury, or illness. The traditional name is not a behavioral record or medical warning.

Hiring, discipline, education, legal, health, and relationship decisions require direct evidence, consent, and qualified professionals. Never excuse harmful conduct, deny opportunity, or frighten someone because of a Hurting Officer label.
