Overview
Jia Zi Decade Void: Xu and Hai is the standard lookup 甲子旬空亡戌亥. The ten-pair sequence runs from 甲子 through 癸酉: 甲子、乙丑、丙寅、丁卯、戊辰、己巳、庚午、辛未、壬申、癸酉. Ten stems are exhausted before Xu and Hai receive a pairing, so those two branches form this decade’s Void pair. OpenFate derives the pair from the Day Pillar and checks the year, month and hour branches; it does not treat the Day branch as its own Void hit. Void is a relational lookup, not proof that a person, house, relationship or outcome is absent.

List the ten valid pairs before naming Xu and Hai Void
The sequence is 甲子、乙丑、丙寅、丁卯、戊辰、己巳、庚午、辛未、壬申、癸酉. It advances one stem and one branch together until all ten stems have been used.
The twelve-branch cycle still has Xu and Hai left. Classical explanations call them empty because they have positions but no stem assignment inside this ten-pair decade; the valid natal pillars themselves are never deleted.

- Return exactly Xu and Hai, not the next decade’s branches.
A lookup match still needs its pillar and full chart context
After deriving Xu–Hai, identify which non-day pillar actually carries Xu or Hai and what Ten Gods, hidden stems, roots and relationships that branch contains. A label without its position cannot explain how the relationship is expressed.
San Ming Tong Hui explicitly warns that Void should not immediately be judged bad and discusses combinations, clashes and other markers as changing conditions. Those historical rules are not one universal numeric score.

OpenFate derives Xu–Hai from the Day Pillar deterministically
The Shen Sha layer calculates the Day Pillar’s sexagenary index, obtains the two missing branches and checks the four branch slots. It records only matches outside the Day Pillar as Day-Pillar-derived Void.

The pair does not prove missing parents, failed marriage, infertility, unemployment, poverty, illness, death, property loss or spiritual ability. Historical fate claims are not validated facts.
