The Sukuyo three nine cycle counts 27 positions from one reference mansion in three groups of nine, beginning with 命, 業, and 胎.

Counting the reference as position one explains why the second group starts at offset nine. The target can be another person or a day.

Choose the reference
Treat the birth mansion as position one. Moving to the next mansion gives position two, not another first position.
This prevents the common one-step error caused by mixing positions and offsets.
Read each group
The first group begins with 命, the second with 業 and the third with 胎. The remaining eight role names repeat in the same order.
The cycle returns to its starting point after 27 positions.
Check the classical example
T1299 uses 畢 as the reference: 觜 is 榮, 参 is 衰, 井 is 安, and 軫 begins the second group as 業.
This example verifies relative counting; it does not convert a Gregorian birthday.
Distinguish relationships and days
The same position vocabulary can compare another birth mansion or a target day’s mansion.
The target must be labeled so the two uses are not accidentally exchanged.
Do not flatten textual differences
The volumes contain differing judgments about some named days, including 業. A single modern good/bad score would conceal that difference.
This guide preserves the sequence as a reproducible reference without claiming universal timing predictions.
Verify all three starts
With zero-based reference index r, check r mod 27 for 命, (r + 9) mod 27 for 業 and (r + 18) mod 27 for 胎. Then reverse one pair to confirm that the ordered role changes.
The modular check verifies relative positions only; it does not test a natal date conversion or the truth of a relationship interpretation.
