Nayin and Zodiac Animals

Understand why a zodiac animal identifies only the year branch, while Nayin requires the complete year Jiazi and changes across the five returns of that animal.

Overview

A Chinese zodiac animal comes from the year branch, but year Nayin comes from the complete year stem-branch pair. Each animal returns five times in the sixty-Jiazi cycle with five different stems and potentially different Nayin classifications. Therefore an animal sign alone is insufficient to calculate Nayin or compare two people.

Zodiac and Nayin use different keys

The zodiac names the Earthly Branch of a year, such as Rat for Zi, while Nayin looks up the full valid Jiazi.

People with the same animal sign but born twelve years apart generally have different year stems and may have different Nayin.

  • Display the year stem with the animal branch.
  • Do not label every animal with one fixed Nayin.

Use the sixty-year cycle, not a twelve-year shortcut

The same branch appears once in each group of twelve but combines with five compatible stems across the full sexagenary cycle.

Only the exact combination and accepted year boundary determine the corresponding Nayin row.

  • Resolve the complete year pillar first.
  • Account for births near the chosen year boundary.

Do not confuse two different comparison systems

Zodiac compatibility traditions compare branches, while Nayin comparison uses pair-level phases and sometimes named images.

If both are shown, their rules and outputs should remain separate rather than being added into one unsupported score.

  • Label zodiac and Nayin evidence separately.
  • Explain disagreements instead of averaging them.

Neither label is a complete person profile

A birth animal or year Nayin cannot establish personality, relationship success, occupation, health, or future events.

Use these classifications as cultural reference points and rely on complete data and present circumstances for consequential judgments.

  • Avoid sign-based stereotyping.
  • Do not infer protected or sensitive traits.
