Overview

The Nayin table maps every Jiazi in the sixty-term cycle to one of thirty named images. Each image covers two adjacent Jiazi. A reliable table records the cycle position, exact Chinese pair, paired partner, Nayin name, and assigned phase so readers can verify a lookup without guessing from the stem or zodiac animal.

A useful table exposes every lookup field

Each row should show the sequential Jiazi number, Chinese characters, romanization where useful, paired entry, Nayin name, and assigned phase.

The source or edition should also be recorded because typography and translated image names can vary even when the underlying pairing is stable.

  • Keep the Chinese name as the canonical source term.
  • Treat translated image names as labels, not new categories.

Match both characters in the correct order

Locate the Heavenly Stem first and then the Earthly Branch as one valid Jiazi, rather than searching for either component separately.

A branch repeats five times in the sixty-term cycle, so a zodiac animal alone cannot identify its Nayin.

  • Reject invalid stem-branch combinations.
  • Confirm the cycle position when dates are converted.

Preserve the two-entry pairing

Jia-Zi and Yi-Chou share one Nayin image, Bing-Yin and Ding-Mao share the next, and the same paired pattern continues through the cycle.

The pairing explains why sixty Jiazi yield thirty Nayin names; it does not make the two pillars identical in all other Bazi calculations.

  • Show both members of each Nayin pair.
  • Keep direct stem and branch properties independent.

A table identifies; it does not interpret

The lookup can establish which Nayin name belongs to a verified pillar, but it does not establish favorability, strength, compatibility, or timing.

Interpretation requires a declared method, position, comparison target, and the wider chart evidence relevant to the question.

  • Finish the lookup before adding meaning.
  • Do not turn a table row into a verdict.
