Editorially reviewed:

Overview

Adjacent branches often have more direct structural access, while separated branches may act through a wider network or later timing. Distance never creates a relation by itself: the exact combination, clash, punishment, harm, or break table must first match. Root quality, month command, intervening relations, repetitions, and dynamic overlays then determine how much interpretive weight is warranted.

At a glance

First requirement
An exact recognized branch relation
Direct access
Adjacent pillars often interact more directly
Intervening evidence
Middle branches can support, compete, or obstruct
Strength context
Month command, hidden stems, roots, and repetitions
Timing change
A dynamic branch can create temporary access
Boundary
No universal distance percentage or event guarantee

Map exact pillar positions and intervals

Record whether the branches occupy year–month, month–day, day–hour, or separated pillar positions.

Also record repeated symbols and every intervening branch, because geometry alone cannot describe the relation network.

  • Name both pillars and all middle branches.
  • Keep duplicates as separate chart positions.

Verify relation identity before weighting distance

Two neighboring branches without a recognized relation do not become a combination or clash merely because they touch.

A valid distant pair remains a candidate, but competing relations, roots, and seasonal command may strengthen or weaken its practical relevance.

  • Match the fixed relation table first.
  • Evaluate competition after identification.

Timing can connect positions without changing birth data

A luck or annual branch can repeat a participant, complete a group, or introduce a competing relation for a defined interval.

The temporary overlay should be shown beside, not merged into, the natal distance map.

  • Preserve natal geometry.
  • Attach start and end dates to overlays.

Near and far are not certainty scores

Adjacency does not guarantee visible action, and distance does not make a relation zero.

Avoid fabricated percentages and do not predict relationship quality, safety, money, illness, or life events from proximity alone.

  • No hidden distance formula presented as tradition.
  • No outcome promise from branch spacing.
