Sukuyo compatibility distance: direction, near, middle and far

Sukuyo compatibility distance uses the shorter separation in a 27-mansion cycle after naming the reference; it is not physical or emotional distance.

Overview

Keep direction and shorter separation in separate fields. The unbanded offsets are important exceptions, not missing data.

At a glance

Near
Shortest separation 1–4
Middle
5–8
Far
10–13; 0 and 9 are unbanded

Direction is an ordered question

From A to B and from B to A are separate lookups. The two results may have different role names within the same family.

Always attach the source and target to a role in notes or screenshots.

How the band is calculated

For a forward offset d, the shorter separation is the smaller of d and 27 minus d.

OpenFate leaves zero and nine unbanded because those correspond to 命 and 業胎 families.

A boundary example

Offset four has shortest separation four and is near. Offset five is middle; offset ten is far.

Offset eighteen has shortest separation nine and is unbanded, not far.

What the band does not mean

Far does not mean a long-distance relationship, low affection or a late meeting in life.

Near does not prove immediate attraction or permission to move faster than another person wants.

Compare another school carefully

If another source uses a different band assignment, retain its rule beside the result. Do not splice its labels into this formula.

The product convention is explicit so that a disagreement can be traced rather than explained away.

Calculate one reverse pair

If A→B has forward offset 4, its shorter separation is 4 and the band is near; B→A has forward offset 23 but the same shorter separation.

The role name may reverse while the distance band stays the same. That symmetry is a useful arithmetic check, not a claim of equal feelings.
