D2 Hora Chart: The 15° Rule and Its Limits

Overview

D2 Hora divides each natal sign into two 15° halves. The Sun/Moon allocation reverses between odd and even signs. A complete D2 chart also needs a named layout rule; Rao explicitly calls his introductory Hora account incomplete.

How is a D2 Hora placement calculated?

Count signs from Aries as one: Aries, Gemini, Leo, Libra, Sagittarius and Aquarius are odd. Their first half is Sun Hora and second half Moon Hora. Taurus, Cancer, Virgo, Scorpio, Capricorn and Pisces reverse that allocation.

OpenFate’s locally reviewed calculation maps Sun Hora to Leo and Moon Hora to Cancer. This is a declared implementation, not proof that every school’s D2 chart uses only those signs. Rao §6.2.2 supports the allocation but warns that its explanation is incomplete.

What happens exactly at 15°?

At Aries 14°59′ the allocation is Sun Hora, mapped to Leo in the named implementation. At Aries 15°00′ it becomes Moon Hora, mapped to Cancer. The exact boundary belongs to the second half; rounding first can hide the change.

For Taurus the same test reverses: 14°59′ is Moon Hora/Cancer and 15°00′ is Sun Hora/Leo. These are artificial boundary inputs, not birth observations. The example checks parity and half assignment without claiming that resources change at that instant.

Can a Hora chart tell me how wealthy I will be?

Rao’s chart-domain table associates D2 with money and resources, but that tradition does not verify assets, income or investment returns. Keep a resource question separate from account records and practical financial decisions; do not turn a Sun/Moon label into a wealth score.

When an app disagrees, compare the complete Hora method, source longitude and rounding before interpreting the difference. If birth time leaves the D2 ascendant uncertain, withhold its house conclusions. A different Hora method must not be presented as an available app setting without verification.
