How to Read Divisional Charts with D1

Use a reproducible D1-to-varga worksheet: preserve inputs, distinguish rulers from occupants, handle uncertain birth time and avoid double-counting.

Overview

Read a divisional chart with D1 by keeping two labelled layers: the natal sign-and-house record, and the derived chart for a stated traditional topic. Compare their rulers and occupants without overwriting one layer or counting reused inputs as independent evidence.

A practical two-layer worksheet

Choose the question before choosing a chart. Preserve the natal longitude and D1 lagna, calculate the relevant varga under a named rule, and record its lagna independently. Then list the sign occupying the relevant house, that sign’s ruler and the actual occupants.

A ruler can be elsewhere in either chart; ownership does not mean occupancy. Keep empty houses in the worksheet because they still have sign rulers. Do not replace a missing chart input with an interpretation that happens to sound suitable.

A planet keeps its identity, not its house number

Use artificial inputs: D1 lagna Taurus 1° and a planet at Gemini 11°. In D1 the planet is in the second whole-sign house. D9 maps the Taurus lagna to Capricorn and the Gemini planet to Capricorn, so it is in the first D9 house.

The second-to-first difference is expected: both the planet and reference were transformed. Write “D1 second” and “D9 first,” not a merged “first/second house.” No new planet appeared, and the two calculations are not independent observations of a life outcome.

How do I decide whether the comparison is usable?

Check whether a credible birth-time interval changes the derived lagna. If it does, identify which house and ruler claims depend on the unstable reference and leave those unresolved. Stable planetary mappings may still be explainable, but do not rescue uncertain houses.

Finally compare the proposed interpretation with ordinary evidence and alternatives. D10 cannot replace employment records, D24 cannot replace learning assessment, and D9 cannot certify a relationship. More agreeing chart labels do not remove their shared dependence on the same natal input.
