Overview

Vedic chart relationships include planet-based aspects, sign-based aspects, co-presence and sign exchange. They are not interchangeable ways of drawing the same line. This hub helps select the appropriate rule; the term pages provide exact counting and verification steps.

At a glance

Planet-based aspect
Graha drishti: target depends on source planet
Sign-based aspect
Rashi drishti: target depends on sign category
Co-presence
Same-sign or degree-based definition must be stated
Exchange
Two planets occupy each other’s ruled signs

Choose the question before the aspect rule

For “which signs does Mars aspect?”, use the declared graha-aspect rule. For rashi drishti, use the source sign’s movable, fixed or dual category. For conjunction, ask whether the source means same-sign co-presence or a specified angular distance. For exchange, inspect reciprocal ownership.

A relationship table should record its source, target, method and chart layer. Mixing natal and transit coordinates, D1 and a divisional chart, or sign aspects and degree orbs can produce a plausible-looking line that answers no consistent question.

The same pair can satisfy different named rules

Place synthetic Mars in Gemini and Venus in Virgo. Under full graha drishti, Virgo is fourth from Gemini and receives Mars’s special fourth aspect. Under the cited rashi rule, Gemini and Virgo are both dual signs, so their sign relationship also qualifies.

The two reasons should be recorded separately; neither says the planets are in the same sign. They also do not establish sign exchange: that requires checking whether each occupies a sign ruled by the other. A pair of connected symbols is not enough to select every association label.

A relationship is evidence of structure, not an outcome

An aspected sign can be empty. A planet in a target sign may receive a one-way special aspect without returning it. A same-sign pair can be widely separated in longitude. The linked guides explain these distinctions rather than assuming every association is mutual and exact.

After verifying the relationship, preserve relevant house roles, degrees and source limits. None of these rules establishes affection, conflict, wealth or harm by itself. Use this hub to route the question, not to count more connections as automatic evidence of a stronger prediction.
