What Is the Original Bazi Chart? (原局)

Learn what Yuan Ju means, which relations belong to the original birth chart, and how to separate permanent natal evidence from temporary luck-cycle activation.

Overview

The original chart, or 原局, is the natal four-pillar configuration before Luck Pillars, annual, monthly, or daily influences are added. It preserves the baseline symbols, roots, season, Ten Gods, and natal relations. Timing can activate, supply, weaken, or redirect that baseline, but it must not be silently merged into Yuan Ju.

Freeze the natal evidence before adding time

Record the four birth pillars and all deterministic derivatives as the original chart. This creates a stable reference for later analysis.

Do not insert a Luck Pillar or annual branch into the natal list. Store its chart layer and period separately.

  • Keep one immutable natal baseline.
  • Label every non-natal symbol by layer.

Natal relations belong to Yuan Ju

Combinations, clashes, roots, Ten Gods, and pattern candidates formed entirely by natal symbols are original-chart evidence.

A relation that needs a transit member is not natal. It can be called temporarily completed only for the supported period.

  • Distinguish complete natal relations from candidates.
  • Date any temporary completion.

Compare timing against the baseline, not instead of it

Timing can increase an existing phase, introduce a missing participant, or pressure a natal structure. Its effect depends on what the original chart can receive.

A period-specific useful function or strength assessment may differ from the natal baseline, so the output must name which layer it evaluates.

  • Show before-and-during comparisons.
  • Do not relabel temporary state as natal fact.

Original does not mean predetermined

The word 原局 identifies data ownership and analytical order, not an immutable script of events.

Real circumstances, decisions, institutions, and other people remain outside the chart. Preserve that boundary in every practical interpretation.

  • Use structural, not fatalistic, wording.
  • Do not blame the natal chart for outcomes.
