Reading Order for a Bazi Chart (八字閱讀順序)
Follow a reproducible Bazi reading order from input validation and four pillars through season, roots, Ten Gods, interactions, structure, timing, and boundaries.
Overview
A reliable Bazi reading begins by validating the birth instant and four pillars. It then establishes the Day Master and month command, maps hidden stems and roots, assigns Ten Gods, evaluates strength and climate, resolves stem-branch interactions, tests pattern and useful-role hypotheses, and only afterward adds timing and life-domain interpretation. This order prevents attractive labels from replacing evidence.
At a glance
- Step 1
- Validate inputs, time rules, and four pillars
- Step 2
- Identify Day Master, month command, hidden stems, and roots
- Step 3
- Map Ten Gods, phase strength, and climate
- Step 4
- Resolve combinations, clashes, patterns, and useful roles
- Step 5
- Add Luck Pillars and annual timing
- Final gate
- State evidence, counterevidence, uncertainty, and limits
Start with a reproducible chart
Confirm date, time, place, historical time zone, solar-term boundaries, day-change policy, and any true-solar-time option before interpretation.
If a plausible input range crosses a pillar boundary, carry multiple candidate charts rather than selecting the one that produces a preferred story.
- Calculation comes before meaning.
- Propagate uncertainty to dependent fields.
Build the structural evidence from the bottom up
Set the Day Master and month command, unfold hidden stems, locate roots, derive Ten Gods, and measure support, drain, control, climate, and phase flow.
Next compute all simultaneous stem and branch relations. Do not let one combination or clash delete other active evidence.
- Use one evidence map.
- Avoid duplicate scoring of the same root or relation.
Test patterns and useful roles as hypotheses
A pattern or useful-god claim should list formation conditions, failure conditions, competing methods, and the symbols that carry the proposed function.
Only after the natal structure is stable should timing show when a relation is supplied, pressured, or temporarily activated.
- Publish why a hypothesis fits.
- Also publish what would invalidate it.
Translate cautiously and preserve boundaries
Life-domain language should remain conditional and connect to specific chart evidence, timing, and known real-world context.
Do not turn technical labels into medical, legal, financial, relationship, or safety guarantees. End with uncertainty and practical limits.
- Prefer direct, evidence-linked explanations.
- Keep high-stakes advice outside the chart.
