Mars Aspects in Vedic Astrology
Calculate Mars’s 4th, 7th and 8th full aspects. An Aquarius example shows target signs, natal houses and why an eighth aspect is not an eighth-house claim.
Overview
Under the full graha-aspect convention used here, Mars aspects the fourth, seventh and eighth signs from its occupied sign, counting that sign as one. The fourth and eighth are Mars’s special aspects. These counts identify relationships, not violence, conflict or a fixed life result.

How to find Mars’s three targets
Locate Mars’s sign in the chosen chart layer. Move three, six and seven sign steps forward to obtain the fourth, seventh and eighth inclusively. Use zodiac order and wrap after Pisces. A target sign does not need a planet in it to be recorded.
Afterward, map those signs to houses from lagna. If another planet is present, it receives the stated sign-based aspect; whether it returns an aspect requires its own calculation. Mars’s rule does not automatically belong to every planet in a Mars-ruled sign.
Mars in Aquarius targets Taurus, Leo and Virgo
For synthetic Mars at Aquarius 9°, the fourth target is Taurus, the seventh Leo and the eighth Virgo. With Gemini lagna and whole-sign houses, these are the twelfth, third and fourth natal houses respectively.
Thus Mars’s eighth aspect reaches the fourth house in this example. It is not an eighth-house Mars or an aspect to every eighth house. The 9° source degree does not establish a particular target planet’s degree; a claim about angular precision requires additional positions.
What not to infer from a Mars line
Do not diagnose aggression, predict injury or accuse someone of abuse from an aspect. Those require behavioral and real-world evidence. A traditional Mars relationship can frame a question about action or pressure only after the actual chart structure is checked.
For a recalculated Mars sign, rerun all targets rather than preserving a favorite interpretation. This page explains full graha drishti; degree-strength, rashi-aspect and retrograde-modification rules need separate declarations. An aspect alone does not date an event.
