Overview

Graha drishti is the planet-based aspect convention in which the source planet determines which relative signs are targeted. This guide covers the full aspects of the seven classical planets, counting the occupied sign as one. It does not silently extend node rules or degree-strength formulas.

At a glance

Common full aspect
Seventh from the source planet

Fourth, seventh and eighth
Jupiter targets
Fifth, seventh and ninth
Saturn targets
Third, seventh and tenth

Count from the planet, not automatically from lagna

Identify the source planet and occupied sign. Count that sign as one, then move forward through zodiac order to its allowed targets. After finding target signs, translate them into houses using the chart’s separate lagna reference. A source-relative fifth aspect is not necessarily an aspect to the natal fifth house.

Keep the direction explicit: source planet → target sign → any actual occupant. The sign can be aspected while empty. To claim a mutual planetary aspect, repeat the calculation from the second planet with its own rules.

Jupiter in Cancer with Taurus lagna

Take a synthetic Jupiter in Cancer. Its fifth, seventh and ninth targets are Scorpio, Capricorn and Pisces. If lagna is Taurus and houses are whole-sign, those targets are the natal seventh, ninth and eleventh houses.

Nothing about Jupiter’s source-relative fifth target makes Scorpio the natal fifth house. If the planet occupies another sign after an input correction, all targets must be recalculated. The example supplies no target occupants, so it cannot name a planet receiving an aspect.

What this full-aspect rule leaves out

Degree-based aspect strength, rashi drishti, Tajika aspects and school-specific node aspects require additional methods. Do not insert a Western orb into this sign-based rule and call it the same calculation. Exact longitude is still useful, but answers a more detailed question.

A verified aspect is a traditional structural relationship, not proof of an event. Preserve the chart layer, settings and relevant house ownership before discussing meaning. The aspects hub compares methods; this page owns the reproducible full-aspect procedure.
