Fate Stars in Luck Cycles and Annual Influences (歲運)
Calculate Shen Sha separately for natal, Luck Pillar, and annual layers, then state the exact dates, contacts, and limits of temporary matches.
Overview
Luck Pillars and annual influences can introduce a reference or target symbol that creates a temporary Fate-Star match. The natal chart remains unchanged. A responsible timing reading records which layer supplies each symbol, the active date range, contact with natal structure, and stronger Ten-God or stem-branch evidence. A timed marker raises a question; it does not schedule an event.

Calculate each time layer separately
Keep natal, Luck Pillar, and annual stems and branches in distinct records.
A marker can be natal, newly introduced, or formed through a cross-layer anchor-target pair; those states are not interchangeable.
- Label the supplying layer.
- Never rewrite natal pillars.
Attach a defined start and end
A Luck Pillar marker belongs to that pillar’s calculated interval, while an annual marker belongs to the selected annual boundary convention.
Store exact dates and the convention so a temporary annotation cannot become a permanent profile claim.
- Expose the time basis.
- Expire the marker with its layer.
Require contact with the natal chart
Review the timed symbol’s Ten God, root, strength, combination, clash, and relevance to the natal structure.
A floating marker without an operative connection should not dominate the forecast narrative.
- Prioritize direct cross-layer relations.
- Report supportive and opposing contacts.
Use timing as a review window, not an appointment
A Peach Blossom, Travelling Horse, Nobleman, or adversity marker does not schedule a relationship, move, helper, accident, or loss.
Phrase the period as a bounded traditional theme and return decisions to observed conditions.
- No event-date certainty.
- No irreversible action from a marker.
