Overview

Fate-Star calculation is a deterministic table lookup once the adopted source and rule version are fixed. The process identifies the required anchor—such as a Day Stem, Year Branch, or Day Branch—then scans only the permitted targets and records every exact match with its pillar and chart layer. Interpretation happens after calculation, not inside it.

Start from a stable natal chart

Confirm calendar boundaries, time zone, and the four natal pillars before any marker lookup.

A wrong Year, Month, Day, or Hour symbol can change both the reference anchor and every target match.

  • Reuse the frozen chart result.
  • Do not recalculate pillars inside the article layer.

Select one documented table

Record the text, edition, school, and exact row that defines the marker.

Do not merge alternate tables silently or choose whichever version produces the preferred result.

  • Version the rule set.
  • Preserve source disagreement.

Apply the declared anchor and target scope

Use only the stem or branch named by the rule and inspect only the positions the table permits.

Store the anchor, matching symbol, target pillar, natal or timed layer, and any duplicate matches as separate facts.

  • Require exact symbol identity.
  • Keep every match traceable.

Interpret only after the lookup is complete

Calculation establishes that a rule matched; it does not establish strength, usefulness, activation, or an event.

Attach structure, Ten-God, interaction, and timing evidence in a later interpretive step.

  • Do not embed predictions in the calculator.
  • Expose confidence and limits.
