Read a Bazi chart in dependency order: verify the birth inputs and four calculated pillars; identify the Day Master and exact month command; inventory visible and hidden qi; assess roots, season, support, drain, and control; calculate Ten Gods and stem-branch interactions; then evaluate structure, useful functions, and timing under a declared method. Begin with chart facts and end with bounded interpretation, not the reverse.

Verify the chart before reading it
Confirm calendar type, leap month, birthplace, historical time zone, recorded precision, solar-time option, Li Chun and Jie boundaries, day-change convention, and all four valid stem-branch pairs.
Keep uncertainty when the record crosses a boundary. An interpretation built on an unverified Hour or Day Pillar cannot become accurate through persuasive prose.

Inventory Day Master, month command, roots, and relations
Identify the Day Stem, then list visible stems, branches, hidden stems, seasonal depth, and roots. Calculate every Ten God relative to the Day Master.
Map generating, controlling, combining, clashing, punishing, harming, and breaking relations without yet turning them into events. Note pillar position and distance.

- Separate relation presence from transformation.
Form a structural hypothesis and test counterevidence
Evaluate Day Master capacity, month-command structure, competing patterns, climate concerns, and which functions improve or obstruct the chosen objective. Name the school or policy.
Actively test disqualifying conditions and alternative readings. If evidence conflicts, lower confidence or present alternatives rather than forcing a single elegant story.

Add timing only after the natal structure is stable
