Bathing (沐浴) in the Twelve Life Stages
Understand Bathing as stage two, check every 沐浴 stem–branch pair, and avoid treating the classical cleansing image as personality or romance evidence.
Overview
Bathing (沐浴), also called 敗 in some classical explanations, is the second Twelve Life Stage. OpenFate maps it to 甲子、乙巳、丙卯、丁申、戊卯、己申、庚午、辛亥、壬酉、癸寅. The label follows Birth and precedes Crowning; it uses an image of newly manifested qi being washed and exposed. The product classifies it as a weak secondary stage, but does not infer promiscuity, beauty, shame, instability, childhood events or relationship outcomes from that tag.

Bathing describes exposed early qi, not a moral category
Classical explanations compare the stage with washing soon after birth, when form is present but still delicate. The alternate word 敗 points to vulnerability in the metaphor, not personal disgrace.
Modern romance and appearance claims go beyond the calculation. They should never be smuggled into a definition of the stage.

Bathing occurs at ten different branches by stem
The complete table is 甲子、乙巳、丙卯、丁申、戊卯、己申、庚午、辛亥、壬酉、癸寅. These positions come from one step after each stem’s Birth position, forward for yang and reverse for yin.
Seeing 子, 卯 or 申 is insufficient unless the reference stem is also known. Star Fortune and Sitting Stage can use different reference stems in the same pillar.

The weak tag remains subordinate to chart structure
OpenFate can display 沐浴 in both Star Fortune and Sitting Stage and attaches its current weak category for secondary presentation. That category is not a deduction from the person’s behavior.
Month command, rooting, effective Ten Gods and interactions are calculated independently. They must not be deleted or overridden because one branch receives 沐浴.

- Preserve all ordinary branch evidence.
Bathing cannot identify romance, beauty or scandal
沐浴 does not prove attractiveness, sexual behavior, infidelity, public shame, trauma, addiction, mood disorder or an unstable childhood. It also does not predict cleansing, travel or sudden change.
Relationship, mental-health and safety judgments require consent, direct facts and appropriate expertise. A symbolic stage must not be used to screen or stigmatize anyone.
