Overview

Rahu mahadasha is Rahu’s eighteen-model-year period in Vimshottari, following Mars and preceding Jupiter. Its duration belongs to the timing system, not to a measured transit of the ascending lunar node. Rahu’s label does not make a period inherently disastrous or successful.

Is the eighteen-year period a node-return cycle?

No. A Rahu transit or return concerns a calculated node position at another time. Rahu mahadasha instead follows the natal Moon-based Vimshottari schedule. Similar-looking multi-year numbers must not be used to identify these different computations.

Mean versus true node settings can change a displayed Rahu longitude, but the standard starting dasha here is selected from the Moon’s nakshatra. Do not change the period length to match a preferred node transit or infer that the two must start together.

Find Rahu/Jupiter on a full timeline

Rahu/Rahu occupies 18 × 18 / 120 = 2.7 model years. Rahu/Jupiter follows for 18 × 16 / 120 = 2.4, ending at elapsed 5.1. Thus a target four model years after the full Rahu start belongs to Rahu/Jupiter.

If birth occurs four years after that start, the displayed remaining Rahu balance is fourteen years, but the active subperiod is already Jupiter. Rebuilding the subperiods from birth would produce the wrong current label despite using the correct eighteen-year parent length.

How do I evaluate dramatic Rahu predictions?

Ask which claim is a verified position, which is a traditional symbol and which is a real-world assertion. A period cannot prove deception, addiction, sudden wealth or catastrophe. Strong claims need independent evidence and must not be used to sell guaranteed remedies.
