Overview

Venus mahadasha is the longest full main period in Vimshottari, lasting twenty model years. It follows Ketu and precedes Sun. Its length does not make it twenty guaranteed years of prosperity, romance or comfort.

Why does the twenty-year number matter?

Twenty is Venus’s fixed weight in the 120-year cycle, not an estimate derived from a person’s appearance, income or relationship status. A report should show whether it refers to the complete parent period or only the portion remaining at birth.

A Venus period is also different from Venus entering a sign or becoming retrograde. Those are transit-related descriptions. If a source promises a wedding or wealth simply because the main ruler is Venus, the prediction exceeds what this timing calculation establishes.

Calculate the beginning of a full Venus period

Venus/Venus occupies 20 × 20 / 120 = 10/3 model years. Venus/Sun follows for 20 × 6 / 120 = 1 year, ending at elapsed 13/3. Venus/Moon then lasts 20 × 10 / 120 = 5/3, ending at elapsed 6.

A target at elapsed 5 model years therefore falls in Venus/Moon, not Venus/Venus. These are offsets from the full parent start. A birth five years into that parent inherits this position in the sequence rather than resetting its first subperiod.

How do I compare a Venus-period reading with real life?

Ask what chart evidence and real circumstances support each statement rather than accepting “benefic period” as a complete explanation. Finances depend on actual records, and a relationship depends on the people involved. A ruler label supplies neither proof nor consent.

Resolve birth-time uncertainty and year-length conventions before comparing end dates across calculators. The mahadasha-versus-antardasha guide explains the hierarchy, while the current-period guide handles a partially elapsed first parent. Treat an unresolved boundary as unresolved, not as a guaranteed turning point.
