Overview

Makara is Capricorn, 270°–300° in the declared sidereal zodiac. Saturn rules this movable earth sign. Mars’s exaltation point at 28° Capricorn is a different rule about Mars; it does not make Mars the ruler of Capricorn.

Makara does not always mean the tenth house

Capricorn is tenth in zodiac order, but its house depends on the selected reference. A Capricorn Moon is not necessarily a tenth-house Moon. Likewise, a Capricorn ascendant does not specify Saturn’s occupied sign.

Movable and earth can frame a traditional question about turning an intention into a workable process. They do not establish ambition, seniority or an inevitable burden. Career decisions need practical evidence, not an assumption that every Makara placement means professional success.

Saturn, Mars and Jupiter have different relationships to Capricorn

Saturn owns Capricorn. Mars has its exaltation point at 28° Capricorn, while Jupiter has its debilitation point at 5° Capricorn in the cited table. Always name the planet to which a dignity belongs; an empty sign cannot contain an exalted Mars.

In a Capricorn-lagna whole-sign chart, Saturn owns the first house and the second in Aquarius. A Mars in Capricorn would be a separate occupant with separate house ownership. One label does not resolve the whole chart or cancel the need to inspect the ruler.

An exalted Mars in the fifth house

Let synthetic sidereal lagna be 154°, Mars 298° and Saturn 311°. These are Virgo 4°, Mars at Capricorn 28° and Saturn at Aquarius 11°. From Virgo, Capricorn is the fifth whole-sign house and Aquarius the sixth.

Mars therefore occupies the fifth at the cited exaltation point, while the ruler of that sign is in the sixth. Calling this simply “a tenth-house Mars” would confuse sign order with house counting. Jupiter’s position is absent, so this example cannot claim a debilitated Jupiter.

How should I use a Makara description?

First identify whether the description concerns Moon, lagna, Sun or another planet. For any strength claim, check the actual occupant and degree. If an app changes a label near 270° or 300°, compare exact positions and sidereal settings rather than judging from personality fit.
