Day Pillar Grade (日柱等級): Scope and Limits
Understand Day Pillar Grade as a later school-specific ranking, what a valid table must disclose, and why it cannot measure destiny quality or human worth.
Overview
Day Pillar Grade (日柱等級) refers to later tables that rank or label the sixty day pillars, often as upper, middle or lower classes. It is not one universally standardized rule across classical Bazi schools, and OpenFate does not treat an undeclared ranking as a deterministic chart fact. A reviewable use must name the exact table, edition, criteria and intended scope. The day pillar is only two of the chart’s eight visible characters, so its grade cannot replace month season, the other pillars, interactions, Luck Pillars or current circumstances.

A Day Pillar Grade belongs to a named ranking table
The phrase usually groups the sixty Jiazi day pillars into qualitative bands. Different websites and schools can assign different labels because their criteria are not one canonical calculation.
Without the source table and edition, a grade cannot be reproduced or audited. It should be described as that source’s classification, not “the” rank of a day pillar.

- Do not merge incompatible tables.
The day pillar cannot stand in for the complete chart
The day stem is the principal reference and the day branch carries important palace and root information, but the month season and six other visible symbols still matter.
Hidden stems, combinations, clashes, Luck Pillars and annual cycles also change context. A fixed day-pair grade cannot evaluate those conditions.
- Keep the grade scoped to one pair.
- Read the complete chart before interpretation.

Core chart calculation returns the day pillar itself. A school-specific label can appear only when its source, convention and product ownership are explicit.
Wiki publication does not add a ranking to the engine or rewrite reports. If a table is later supported, it needs versioned data and tests for all sixty pairs.

Grades cannot rank people, marriages or life outcomes
An upper or lower label does not prove intelligence, morality, social class, wealth, health, beauty, relationship quality or future success.
Hiring, marriage, education, medical and financial choices must not use a day-pillar ranking to include or exclude a person.
