Zi-Wu Clash (子午沖) in Bazi
Understand the exact Rat–Horse branch clash, how natal and timing layers activate it, and why 子午沖 does not automatically predict conflict or accidents.
Overview
Zi–Wu Clash (子午沖) is the fixed opposition between the Earthly Branches 子 and 午. It places Water-associated Zi and Fire-associated Wu in a clash relation, but the table match alone proves only that the base relation exists. Interpretation must preserve the pillar positions, natal or timing layer, season, strength, hidden stems and competing combinations or clashes. The relation does not automatically mean an accident, breakup, relocation, heart problem or career disruption.

- Position, season, strength and other relations
- Boundary
- No automatic accident, illness or separation
子午沖 is one exact pair in the six-clash table
The relation is present when canonical branches 子 and 午 are compared. Similar imagery, zodiac stereotypes or a Water–Fire contrast without the pair does not create this clash.
A page should show the participating branches and their pillar positions. The word “clash” names a rule, not a complete real-world interpretation.
- Require the exact 子–午 pair.
- Keep the source pillar for each branch visible.
Natal and timing clashes answer different questions
When both branches are natal, the relation is structural evidence inside the birth chart. When a luck or annual branch supplies one side, it is a dynamic comparison tied to that period.
Season, roots, hidden stems, combinations and other clashes can change which relation is effective. Activation does not guarantee a visible event.
- Separate static and dynamic records.
- Evaluate the whole relation network.
OpenFate records the pair before generating interpretation
The deterministic interaction table maps 子 to 午 and can emit natal or timing-layer records with participants. The explanation should remain anchored to those records.
No content page should turn the pair into a universal penalty or add an unsupported severity score. Competing relations and calculation version remain part of provenance.
- Trace every claim to the interaction record.
- Do not hide the rule behind generic conflict copy.
The clash is not a diagnosis or event forecast
子午沖 alone cannot prove travel, migration, accidents, cardiovascular illness, emotional instability, divorce, dismissal or legal conflict.
Use the symbol as one traditional relationship marker. Medical, safety, legal, career and relationship decisions need direct evidence and qualified support.
- No specific event from the pair alone.
- No health or relationship diagnosis.
