Overview

Favorable and Useful Gods (喜用神) is a combined phrase for related but non-identical recommendation roles. Yong Shen (用神) is the operative relation or phase selected to address a chart’s stated structural problem; Xi Shen (喜神) supports or assists that use under the chosen method. Balancing strength, preserving a pattern, climate regulation and mediation can produce different candidates, so the method and evidence must be declared. A selected phase does not guarantee luck and is not a prescription to buy colors, objects, foods or financial products.

Useful God and Favorable God answer different roles

用神 identifies what the chosen method uses to resolve or organize a specific chart condition. 喜神 names what assists that operation or is favorable to it.

Some modern reports merge both into one phrase for readability. A rigorous page should still expose which role and method produced each phase.

  • Label Yong Shen and Xi Shen separately.
  • Name the problem each recommendation addresses.

Different valid methods can select different candidates

Strength balancing may seek support or drainage, pattern methods preserve a governing structure, climate regulation addresses seasonal cold, heat, dryness or dampness, and mediation resolves a blocked relation.

These are not interchangeable shortcuts. When methods conflict, the author must state priority and uncertainty rather than list every phase as favorable.

  • Declare the selection method before the result.
  • Explain conflicts instead of hiding them.

OpenFate keeps recommendation logic traceable

Product output should connect each candidate to natal evidence, method and supported use. Annual or Luck-Pillar phases are compared only after the natal rationale is stable.

A Wiki update explains terminology but does not silently alter saved recommendations. Method changes require versioned calculation and report review.

  • Attach every recommendation to evidence.
  • Version product policy separately from content.

A favorable phase is not a guaranteed remedy

喜用神 cannot prove that a color, crystal, food, name, direction, city, profession, partner or investment will improve health, wealth or relationships.

Purchases, treatment, relocation and financial choices require real-world evidence and qualified advice. Symbolic correspondences may be optional cultural context, never a guarantee.

  • No shopping or treatment prescription.
  • No guaranteed outcome from a phase label.
