Deficient Five-Element Strength (五行偏弱)
Learn when a phase is relatively weak through lost season, weak roots, control, drain, and obstruction—and why rarity does not prove deficiency.
Overview
Deficient Five-Element strength means a phase has limited effective capacity under a stated chart method. Seasonal disadvantage, absent or damaged roots, concealment, strong drain or control, and interrupted support can contribute. One visible symbol can still be effective when rooted and supported, while several symbols can remain weak; deficiency therefore cannot be inferred from rarity alone or translated into a personal defect.
At a glance
- Primary evidence
- Seasonal disadvantage and weak roots
- Further limits
- Drain, control, concealment, or redirection
- Possible support
- Roots, generating phases, and timing
- Not enough
- Low visible count alone
- Separate decision
- Weak does not automatically mean needed
- Boundary
- Not a human deficiency or diagnosis
Weakness is a weighted evidence conclusion
Begin with month command, then check roots, exposed support, hidden contents, drain, control, combinations, and distance.
A single deeply rooted symbol may be stronger than several unsupported symbols, so rarity and weakness are different observations.
- Use the declared strength method.
- Preserve contrary support.
Identify available support and whether it can reach
A generating phase, same-phase companion, root, or later timing layer may support the weak function.
Support that is blocked, overcontrolled, combined away, or too distant may not change the conclusion fully.
- Name each support source.
- Test the connection, not just presence.
Weak does not automatically mean unfavorable or useful
A weak phase may be appropriately limited in the chart structure, while strengthening it could disrupt another required relation.
Select useful functions through a stated pattern, support-control, climate, passage, or other method instead of supplementing every weak phase.
- Separate strength from usefulness.
- Do not auto-supplement weakness.
偏弱 is not evidence that a person lacks ability or health
It cannot prove frailty, low intelligence, poor confidence, infertility, poverty, social weakness, or disease.
Real capacities and medical conditions require direct assessment; symbolic deficiency must not restrict opportunity or treatment choices.
- No deficit label for people.
- No medical or social decision from the chart.
