Overview

Transformation between yin and yang describes how conditions can reach a turning point and develop an opposite tendency. It is a conceptual model of change, not a rule that silently converts a yin stem into a yang stem or vice versa. Bazi calculation preserves canonical polarity; any combination or phase transformation must be tested under its own explicit rule, participants, season, support, and failure conditions.

At a glance

Concept
A change of tendency at a turning point
Fixed rule
Stem and branch polarity never changes
Different mechanism
Stem combination and phase transformation use separate tests
Required evidence
Participants, season, roots, support, and obstruction
Product behavior
Original symbols remain auditable
Boundary
No event follows from the phrase alone

Transformation concerns changing conditions

The principle describes how expansion can culminate and contract, or how concealment can eventually produce expression.

It is used to reason about dynamic tendencies, not to edit the canonical identity of a chart character.

  • Name the changing condition.
  • Keep the underlying symbol unchanged.

Do not confuse polarity with other transformation rules

A Heavenly Stem combination may propose a new phase under defined conditions, but both original stems and their polarities remain part of the evidence.

Branch combinations, seasonal change, and luck-cycle activation also follow their own rules and cannot be inferred from 陰陽轉化 alone.

  • Use the correct rule family.
  • Retain original and proposed states.

A valid claim needs a before, trigger, and after state

State which chart function is changing, what condition produces the turn, and which observations would prevent the conclusion.

If no explicit Bazi rule connects those states, describe the idea as philosophical context rather than calculated output.

  • Record the trigger and counterevidence.
  • Label metaphor separately from calculation.

A turning tendency is not a guaranteed life reversal

The phrase cannot prove recovery, decline, relationship change, career reversal, pregnancy, illness, or spiritual transformation.

Use current facts and qualified support for consequential decisions; do not manufacture certainty from a broad cosmological principle.

  • No guaranteed reversal.
  • No high-stakes decision from metaphor.
