Overview

Element count records occurrences at a chosen layer; element strength estimates effective capacity under a declared model. They are related observations but not interchangeable. One rooted, seasonally supported symbol can outweigh several unsupported occurrences, and hidden stems must not be counted as if every contribution were equal. A transparent result shows raw presence and weighted evidence separately rather than presenting a decorative percentage as certainty.

At a glance

Count
Occurrences at a declared chart layer
Strength
Effective capacity under a declared model
Key weights
Season, roots, exposure, support, drain, and control
Hidden stems
Not automatically equal to visible stems
Best display

Boundary
No universal percentage proves balance

A count is meaningful only after defining the layer

Visible stems, visible branches by principal phase, and hidden stems produce different inventories.

Choose one method, label it, and avoid adding incompatible layers as if every occurrence were an equal vote.

  • Declare what is counted.
  • Do not double-count branch contents.

Strength asks whether a phase can operate

Month command, roots, exposure, generating support, drain, control, combination, and climate modify effective capacity.

Weights are model decisions rather than universally measured physical quantities, so the method and version must be disclosed.

  • Publish evidence categories.
  • Version the weighting method.

Count and strength often disagree for valid reasons

Several rootless stems can remain weak, while one stem with season and strong roots can be influential.

Show the disagreement directly because it teaches more than forcing both observations into one percentage.

  • Keep raw and weighted outputs.
  • Explain major sources of divergence.

Percentages are not laboratory measurements

A chart percentage cannot diagnose bodily composition, mental state, talent, compatibility, or probability of an event.

Avoid false decimal precision and never prescribe products or high-stakes actions from the smallest or largest displayed share.

  • Label scores as model outputs.
  • No literal or prescriptive use.
