Day Branch and Spouse Palace in Bazi (日支與夫妻宮)
Understand why the Day Branch is called the spouse palace, how its hidden stems and interactions are read, and why it cannot predict a relationship alone.
Overview
The Day Branch is the Earthly Branch beneath the Day Master and is traditionally called the spouse palace or 夫妻宮. It describes the Day Master’s immediate seat and gives one positional lens for relationship analysis. Its hidden stems, Ten Gods, combinations, clashes, season, and timing all matter. The label does not identify a partner’s personality, guarantee marriage, or predict divorce by itself.

Begin with the actual branch and its contents
Identify the Day Branch, its Five Phase, polarity context, hidden stems, and seasonal state. The palace name does not replace these concrete chart facts.
A hidden spouse-star relation may be available, constrained, or transformed by other symbols. State each dependency rather than reading the branch name as a personality archetype.
- List the branch and hidden stems.
- Calculate their Ten Gods from the Day Master.
Interactions modify the seat but do not declare an event
A combination, clash, punishment, harm, or break involving the Day Branch identifies structural contact. Whether it integrates, mobilizes, strains, or changes function depends on season, strength, participants, and timing.
Repeated or timing-activated relations can make the theme more relevant, but relevance is not proof of marriage, separation, betrayal, or conflict.
- Name every participating symbol.
- Separate presence, activation, and outcome.
Combine palace evidence with relationship stars
Traditional methods may also use Wealth or Authority stars, depending on the chosen school and subject. Star and palace answer different questions and should be read together rather than forcing one to override the other.
The wider chart can support, drain, control, combine, or conceal those relations. A single missing or clashing symbol does not establish relationship status.
- State the gender or school convention only when relevant.
- Do not infer a real person from a symbolic role.
Keep relationship guidance non-deterministic and safe
Bazi cannot verify consent, compatibility, abuse, fidelity, legal status, or medical fertility. These require direct communication, evidence, and appropriate professional help.
Use the spouse palace to structure reflective questions, not to justify surveillance, blame, pressure, or irreversible decisions.
- Avoid guaranteed marriage timing.
- Prioritize present facts and personal safety.
