What does it mean when a family star is affected by a combination?
Distinguish stem combinations, branch harmonies, binding, and transformation around a family-role star without treating combination as removal or guaranteed closeness.
Overview
A family star is “affected by a combination” only when the exact star and relation are identified. Heavenly Stem combinations act between defined stem pairs; Earthly Branch harmonies act between branches, so a hidden family star may be affected through its carrier rather than directly combined as a stem. Combination, binding, and successful transformation are different states. Check pair validity, pillar position, distance, Month Command, roots, supporting element, competing clashes, and the product’s transformation policy, then keep natal and timing layers separate. A combination does not mean that a relative is taken away, unfaithful, dependent, close, reconciled, or destined to stay.

Identify whether the relation belongs to stems or branches
Locate the family-role Ten God first. If it appears as a heavenly stem, test only valid stem-combination pairs; if it is hidden in a branch, test the branch relation and preserve the carrier path.
A branch harmony involving a carrier is not identical to a stem combination involving the hidden symbol. The output should name the actual relation instead of using one generic “combined” flag.
