The Month Pillar (月柱) is calculated from solar-term month boundaries, and its branch carries the Month Command and seasonal weight. Some schools use this position for questions about parents, siblings, upbringing, and early socialization, but relative assignments vary. First analyze the month stem, branch hidden stems, and Month Command. Then compare parent stars, sibling stars, and direct family information as separate evidence. One Month Pillar cannot determine a parent’s character, the number of siblings, family quality, or childhood events.

Validate the Month Pillar before reading its family context
Bazi months change at solar terms rather than lunar-month day one. The solar-term boundary fixes the branch, and the year stem derives the month stem through the Five Tigers rule.
The month branch is also the Month Command, which anchors season and strength. That structural function must be assessed before any family narrative.

Do not collapse the Month Pillar into parent or sibling stars
The month stem, branch, and hidden stems each form Ten-God relations. Parent and Companion-family role stars are located using a separate correspondence table.
A role star in this pillar may create a layered observation. Its absence does not prove that a relative is missing, distant, or nonexistent.
- Count a symbol once, even when layers overlap.
- Never translate nonappearance into no relative.
Let the user define the real family structure
Biological, adoptive, foster, step, half-sibling, guardian, and chosen-family relationships are not interchangeable. Ask which roles and terms fit the user’s life.
