How are parent relationships read in Bazi?
A step-by-step method for reading parent relationships through declared role-star mappings, Year and Month Pillars, chart strength, and verified family context.
Overview
Parent relationships in Bazi are not represented by one universal symbol. Classical schools may assign Resource and Wealth categories differently by lineage, sex-specific convention, or the parent being discussed, while pillar methods often use the Year and Month Pillars as family contexts. Declare the table, identify the actual caregiver or parent role, read visible and hidden evidence, and compare it with lived history. Do not infer parentage, character, health, longevity, abuse, or future conduct.

State whose relationship and which mapping you mean
Begin with the real role: biological parent, adoptive parent, step-parent, guardian, donor, caregiver, or another person named by the user. Do not assume that a traditional label identifies family status.
Classical parent-star assignments vary. Publish the role-star table, sex-specific rule if any, and palace convention before reading the chart so another reader can reproduce the method.
- Let the user define the parent or caregiver.
- Show alternate school mappings without merging them.
Read parent stars and family palaces on separate tracks
Locate the selected Resource or Wealth category in visible stems and hidden stems, then assess seasonal command, roots, reinforcement, drain, control, and exact stem or branch relations.
The Year and Month Pillars can frame ancestry, household, or early-environment questions. A symbol appearing there is one conjunction of evidence, not proof of a particular parent’s behavior.
- Record star position before interpretation.
- Do not double-count a star because it occupies a family palace.
Treat timing contacts as periods to review
When a luck cycle or annual pillar contacts the parent star or a family palace, identify the exact support, control, combination, clash, or repetition and whether it changes access to the natal symbol.
Such contact may make family topics more salient, but it does not establish illness, separation, reconciliation, inheritance, or death. Confirm events only through communication and reliable records.
- Name the natal carrier and timing carrier.
- Avoid event claims about a third party.
Keep parent readings factual, consensual, and non-diagnostic
A natal chart cannot prove biological parentage, adoption, abandonment, favoritism, abuse, addiction, loyalty, or a parent’s private motives. These are factual and sensitive matters.
Use lived experience to discuss boundaries and support. Health, safety, legal parentage, inheritance, and family conflict require qualified medical, safeguarding, legal, or counseling resources where appropriate.
- Do not profile a non-consenting parent.
- Escalate safety and legal questions outside astrology.
