How the Ten Gods Are Derived (十神推導)
Derive any Ten God from the Day Master, Five-Element generation and control, and yin-yang polarity with a complete, reproducible decision table.
Overview
To derive a Ten God, fix the Day Master, identify the compared stem, determine whether its phase is the same as, produced by, controlled by, controlling, or producing the Day Master, then compare polarity. The five directions multiplied by same or opposite polarity produce ten labels. Hidden stems use exactly the same rule after their stem identity is resolved.
At a glance
- Step 1
- Fix the Day Master
- Step 2
- Resolve the compared stem
- Step 3
- Classify the phase direction
- Step 4
- Compare yin-yang polarity
- Output
- Exactly one of ten labels
- Same rule
- Visible and hidden stems use one mapping
Lock the two stems before calculating
The Day Master is the heavenly stem of the day pillar; the second input is a visible stem or a resolved hidden stem.
A branch or animal name cannot enter the formula until its hidden stems have been expanded.
- Use stem identities, not prose labels.
- Retain the source pillar or branch.
Classify one of five phase directions
The compared stem may share the Day Master’s phase, be produced by it, be controlled by it, control it, or produce it.
Direction matters: a phase that the Day Master controls is wealth, while a phase controlling the Day Master is authority.
- Compute the direction from the Day Master.
- Do not reverse subject and object.
Use polarity to select the paired label
Within each direction, matching and opposite polarity select the two canonical names according to the fixed lookup table.
This is a classification rule, not a claim that same polarity is stronger or opposite polarity is more favorable.
- Use one versioned ten-by-ten table.
- Test all one hundred stem pairs.
A correct label is only the start of analysis
The calculation does not determine strength, usefulness, personality, family outcome, or an event.
Month command, roots, position, combinations, clashes, chart structure, timing, and counterevidence remain separate steps.
- Separate classification from judgment.
- Do not calculate a life outcome from one label.
