Ten Gods and Chart Structure (十神與格局)
Connect Ten-God labels to chart-structure analysis through Month Command, reveal, roots, purity, control, rescue, failure conditions, and counterevidence.
Overview
Ten Gods provide the relational vocabulary used by many Bazi structure methods, but a visible label does not automatically create a pattern. Start with Month Command and the adopted school, identify the candidate structure, then test reveal, roots, clarity or mixture, support, control, rescue, failure conditions, and the Day Master’s capacity. Structure is a conditional model, not a social rank or guaranteed outcome.

Identify the structure by a declared method
Different schools prioritize Month Command, revealed qi, or broader configuration differently, so the method must be named.
A Ten-God label elsewhere in the chart cannot silently replace the candidate selected by that method.
- State the school and selection rule.
- Name the exact candidate symbol.
Test formation rather than matching a keyword
Check whether the candidate is seasonally supported, revealed or otherwise accessible, rooted, clear, and connected to the Day Master.
Then examine competing labels, combinations, clashes, control, drain, and any stated failure condition.
- List conditions and non-conditions.
- Keep mixed evidence visible.
Separate pattern identity from pattern quality
A structure can be identifiable yet weak, obstructed, excessive, or poorly supported.
Useful functions and rescue mechanisms should be evaluated after identity, not used to retroactively force the preferred pattern name.

A classical pattern is not a social credential
It does not guarantee wealth, office, fame, education, character, marriage, health, or legal success.
Do not rank people or make employment and financial decisions from structure labels.
