Overview
A Mediating Useful God (通關用神) is an intermediate element or function that allows two opposing forces to connect through a coherent generating sequence instead of remaining in direct conflict. The mediator must be present or meaningfully supplied, sufficiently rooted or supported, able to reach both sides, and not decisively blocked. Naming the middle element is not enough; the entire source-to-mediator-to-target path must be shown.

Identify the exact conflict that needs mediation
Name the two forces, their roots and season, and the mechanism producing direct conflict or blocked circulation.
If one side is nominal or inactive, mediation may not be the primary problem.
