A Useful God Rooted in the Earthly Branches (用神通根) has one or more qualifying branch roots that can sustain the selected stem or phase. Rooting can improve continuity and resistance to damage, but roots differ by main, middle, or residual qi, seasonal condition, pillar distance, repetition, and structural integrity. A root is evidence of support, not proof that the role is exposed, reaches its target, or guarantees favorable results.
