Mediation Method in Bazi (通關法)

Overview
The Mediation Method (通關法) is a reasoning procedure for a chart in which two active forces oppose one another and qi cannot circulate cleanly. It introduces or identifies an intermediate function that receives from one side and generates the other. A valid conclusion requires both sides to be effective, the mediator to be present or time-bound when supplied by luck, and the full path to remain continuous rather than merely naming the middle element.

Confirm that direct opposition is the real problem
Map both forces, their strength, roots, targets, and the exact blocked circulation.
Do not apply mediation when one side is inactive or when the main problem is climate, pattern damage, or simple excess.

Select and validate the intermediate function
Choose the element that can receive from the source side and generate the target side in the proper Five-Element sequence.
Check stem, branch, hidden qi, roots, source support, distance, and obstruction across the entire chain.

Preserve the source and duration of the mediator
A natal bridge differs from one supplied by a Luck Pillar or annual year, and their stability should not be equated.
Record the beginning, end, and any simultaneous clash or transformation introduced by the timing layer.

Do not apply 通關法 to people by analogy
The chart method does not prove that a person is a mediator, that two people will reconcile, or that a dispute will resolve.
