What Is Disaster Sha (災煞) in BaZi?

Overview
Zai Sha is the branch that opposes the General Star of a Three Harmony group: Shen-Zi-Chen finds Wu, Yin-Wu-Xu finds Zi, Si-You-Chou finds Mao, and Hai-Mao-Wei finds You. It is a historical lookup marker, not a forecast of disaster, injury, or death.

How to calculate Zai Sha
First place the year or day branch in its Three Harmony group, then identify the branch opposite that group’s General Star. Because the General Star for Shen-Zi-Chen is Zi, its Zai Sha target is Wu; the other groups follow the same opposition rule.
The target must actually appear among the four natal branches to count as a hit. A trustworthy result names the reference branch, target branch, and matched pillar instead of displaying an unexplained badge.

A match still requires chart context
San Ming Tong Hui discusses support, strength, Officer, and Resource conditions in the same passage, so even the classical account does not treat the name as a self-contained verdict.
Modern reading should begin with seasonal strength, the Day Master, Ten Gods, and actual branch interactions. A natal marker and a temporary annual activation also belong to different layers.

The rule identifies a branch that clashes with the General Star position. It is most useful as an index to a relationship that deserves inspection, not as the title of a future event.
