What Is Lu Shen, or Fortune God, in BaZi?

Overview
Lu Shen (祿神) is the Earthly Branch where the Day Stem reaches the Prosperity, or Lin Guan, stage: Jia-Yin, Yi-Mao, Bing/Wu-Si, Ding/Ji-Wu, Geng-Shen, Xin-You, Ren-Hai and Gui-Zi. It describes a traditional support pattern, not guaranteed salary or status.

Why does each Day Stem have a Lu Shen branch?
Lu Shen is derived from the Twelve Life Stages. It is the branch where the Day Stem reaches Lin Guan, commonly translated as Prosperity: Jia at Yin, Yi at Mao, Bing and Wu at Si, Ding and Ji at Wu, Geng at Shen, Xin at You, Ren at Hai and Gui at Zi.
The rule is structural rather than a free-standing lucky-star table. A calculator should identify the Day Stem, its Prosperity branch and the exact pillar where that branch appears.

- Do not confuse it with Wealth, salary or an annual auspicious deity.
Presence, roots and seasonal strength
Lu Shen often also gives the Day Stem a substantial root, but its practical weight depends on season, combinations, clashes and whether a strong or weak Day Master benefits from more support.
For an already excessive Day Master, added root strength may intensify imbalance. For a weak Day Master, the same branch may be useful, showing why “prosperity” is not automatically favorable.

Resources, standing and the classical idea of lu
Classical lu language evokes sustenance, office emolument and an established place. In modern readings it can frame access to support, competence or a stable base without equating the symbol with a paycheck.
Career and income still require the Officer, Wealth, Output and Resource structures, as well as real qualifications and labor-market conditions. Lu Shen is supporting context rather than proof.

When Lu Shen should not lead the reading
A Lu Shen match cannot guarantee employment, promotion, wealth or protection from loss. It also cannot override a chart’s main useful-element and timing analysis.
For consequential financial or career choices, use verifiable information and qualified advice. The Wiki page should teach the rule and limits, not sell certainty through an auspicious name.
