Monthly Virtue Noble groups the birth-month branches by trine: Yin-Wu-Xu seeks Bing, Shen-Zi-Chen seeks Ren, Hai-Mao-Wei seeks Jia, and Si-You-Chou seeks Geng. The assigned stem must appear in the chart; the marker is not a guarantee of luck or protection.

The four Monthly Virtue lookup groups
The rule places the twelve month branches into four trine groups and assigns one yang stem to each. Yin-Wu-Xu months seek Bing, Shen-Zi-Chen seek Ren, Hai-Mao-Wei seek Jia and Si-You-Chou seek Geng.
The birth-month branch selects the group, but the assigned stem must also be visible in the chart. Being born in one of the months alone is not enough to claim the star.

- Search the visible Heavenly Stems for the assigned symbol.
What should be checked after a match?
The matched stem’s pillar, season, roots, combinations and controls determine its structural weight. Identical Monthly Virtue labels can therefore function very differently in two charts.
If the same stem is a central Ten God, that relationship usually carries more analytical weight than the Fate Star label. Monthly Virtue should supplement Five Element and Ten God analysis rather than lead it.

- Record its pillar and any damage or combination.
What does Monthly Virtue symbolize?
Traditional texts associate it with moderation, generosity and reduced extremes. These phrases belong to a historical interpretive framework and should not be presented as scientific personality findings.
A practical reading can ask whether the chart contains genuine support, mediation or productive flow that echoes the symbol. Without structural evidence, the star alone does not justify a favorable conclusion.

What can Monthly Virtue not answer?
It cannot identify a future helper or guarantee relief in litigation, illness, investing or relationships. Those questions require real evidence, qualified advice and a much broader context.
When tools disagree, compare their month boundary and four-group mapping. Different school rules should be disclosed as such rather than hidden behind a definitive favorable label.
